I'm a professional reviewer and there is a problem with this machine Jul 27, 2010 Just FYI: the machine itself works well. If you plan on using it several times a week forget it. The plastic lid is made out of a material that cracks. I have personally reviewed TWO of these units and both units lasted less than 6 months (we got a replacement the first time). The machine part is solid, the motor is solid, what happens is the lid cracks and it can no longer hold the vacuum. The media rep we got the machines from was notified about the issue.
Save your money and get the cheaper Marinade Master it lasts forever (I've had mine for 6 years) and that's what you want in the kitchen, a useful tool that you can rely on.
Reveo MariVac Apr 14, 2010 I have used the Reveo for two years now without a single problem. We have bought several Reveo's as gifts. Last night the food tumbler suction wasn't working. I called this morning and Eastman Outdoors sent me a new lid no questions asked. Their costumer service is outstanding. I highly recommend the Reveo. I can't imagine marinating meat without it!

OK but pricey Sep 24, 2009 I do all the cooking in my family, and I grill outside quite a bit on weekends and use my Foreman grill during the week. As a result, I cook a fair amount of meat. I was using a typical vacuum pumped, glorified tupperware type product for my marinating until it broke. I thought I would spring for this product after all the glowing reviews I read here. I have had this product about 6 months now, so I thought I would post my review. I have used both steak and chicken in the tumbler, and my final conclusion is that while this product is a decent marinator, I'm not sure that the end result justifies the final price tag of close to $200.
After reading the reviews here, I was expecting to taste heaven the first time that I used the marinator. That wasn't the case, however; I could taste the marinade, but it wasn't much more flavorable than traditional marinating methods. The marinade just doesn't seem to penetrate much more than what you get with a plastic bag overnight or a hand-pumped marinator. I have tried various types of marinade, all with basically the same result. I used my Foreman Grill to cook chicken breasts most of the time, because the absence of charcoal grilling is an excellent chance to measure the amount of marinade penetration since there is really nothing but the marinade to taste when you use the Foreman grill. That said, I wasn't overly impressed with the tumbler - the marinade wasn't particularly stronger or more flavorful in comparison to what I was doing before. The results are superior to not marinading at all, obviously, but if you have the time to marinade your meat the night before you cook it, I don't think you will see a night and day difference when using this product. I'm not recommending that you not buy it, I'm just sharing my experience so your expectations are reasonable. Using the tumbler on meat 20 minutes before you cook is still certainly better than not marinating at all, but what I have ended up doing is using the tumbler the night before I cook in hopes of getting more flavorable food from a longer soak time, which sort of defeats the purpose of the product in some ways.
Best kitchen appliance for quick gourmet marinating. Sep 01, 2009 For consumers whom wish to marinate or infuse meat, chicken or fish, I have yet to find a more perfect appliance. It truly will marinate chicken breasts or pieces in under 20 minutes an infuses filet mignon with marinade or even olive oil for a perfect tasting meal. You don't need the add-on marinades or rubs offered by Reveo and pushed in the recipe booklet. It is a solid unit and very quiet. It also gives a remarkable taste to firm fish. I would assume it would work as a great starter for pickling or corning meats.
As for fit and finish, had a problem with base unit where it stopped functioning. There is no fuse to prevent a total breakdown so the entire unit had to be replaced. One phone call to Eastman Outdoors, the manufacturer, and a new unit was shipped with no hassle. Quite
a welcome benefit.
If you like to cook with flavored meats and fish, there is nothing else on the market which can vacuum and tumble at this price. It is far superior to any effect you will get from a seal-a-meal type unit and is well worth the price.
Great product and GREAT customer service Aug 28, 2009 I love this product! It makes meat taste even better and makes filet mignon so tender you can almost cut it with a fork.
I did have one problem though. The vaccuum hose broke off inside the lid. One email to Eastman Outdoors, the emailed back with a phone number to call. I explained the problem, Stacey took my address and said, "I'll get it right out to you." End of conversation. That's the kind of customer service that makes me want to buy more of their products.
If you love meat (especially on the grill) buy this product with full faith that it will be supported.
