5Cool Cuff  Jan 14, 2010
I was thinking that any decent collection needs a cuff watch or two. This attractive model has a low profile compared to most other cuff designs. It's easy to see, simple to use, and nice to look at. I like it.

5i like it  Nov 30, 2009
I was looking for a simple digital watch which was attractive and easy to read.. I saw a picture of the Fossil and purchased it. It fits that bill. The face is uncluttered, with a large readout of time, day, and date.. The greenish color in the background and the silver case is attractive, and the wide black leather band fits well.

5First Impressions of the Fossil JR9642  Jun 20, 2009
After weeks of watch research I decided to go with the Fossil JR9642. I've been wearing a dress watch for years even though I never wanted to. In the last few years my eyes have needed reading glasses and gradually I have not been able to see the hands on my watch much less the date. Now I needed something I could see and the standard Casio digital and Ironman watches didn't have large enough numbers. Thus I chose to go with this Fossil. Never had one before but my son has two and loves them. I could not find any reviews on this watch (or the similar JR9641) but took the chance and so far I'm pleased.
For starters the picture is way off. The face is not bright lime-green but a super shiny silver with a lite green tinted crystal over the numbers. Actually it looks better then this picture. Fossil has combined a retro look with a sci-fi touch that I think looks really sharp. When I removed it from it's metal box the first thing I said was "Oh my, that's really cool!". The numbers are very large, easy to read in the bright sun or in the pitch dark with the light pressed. The buttons are large and solid with a good quality feel. The case is stainless steel with a pop-off back that has a heavy solid feel. It is a large watch but not huge and not nearly as thick as many sport watches out today. The watch contains a stop watch, alarm, day, date, hour (standard and military), minute, seconds and a light that stays on 5 seconds after pressing. No directions came with the package but it's easy to use so you don't really need any. The band is wide and seems to be made of good quality leather. The buckle is sturdy and there are two loops to hold the excess firmly in place. I have trim wrists and the watch fits just fine. The crystal is flush with the face and therefore has no protection from scratches as do most other watches. I'm fairly easy on watches so I don't predict any problems but others may have reason for concern.
If Fossil does indeed make a good dependable watch I am very pleased with this purchase. I have owned inexpensive Casio's in the past and wore the same watch for years. I'd like to do the same with this one.

Here are some measurements that may help.
The face:
Wide 1 9/16" (band is the same)
High 1" (total including side extensions 1 7/8")
Thickness 3/8"
Time digits 3/8"

Added photos on 6/20/09. Hope they help.
