DO NOT BE FOOLED Jun 30, 2010 I bought the refurbished laptop and it has been nothing but trouble form day 1. It keeps crashing and the product number on the back is incorrect. I had to contact HP for the correct number. the system didn't come with any recovery disks so imagine my dilemma now TRYING to fix it.
It did look brand new, but that's about it. Don't be fooled! It's best to buy a brand new laptop than trying to repair a refurbished one

Warranty is worthless and the customer service staff is rude and useless. Mar 05, 2010 I purchased my laptop from Amazon in May of 2009. Approximately 8 months into it, the hinge system started falling apart on the left hand side. I entered into a chat session with customer service. They sent a box to pack the computer in to send in for repairs under the warranty. I received a call from a case manager who accused me of dropping the laptop and said that "even if what I said were the truth" and it wasn't dropped, it wouldn't be covered anyway because it would be considered normal wear and tear. He wanted over $400 to repair the computer. I told him to just send it back to me. Upon receiving it, my lcd screen is now broken. Believe it or not, they will not accept any responsibility for the damage to my computer. 2 out of 3 of the customer service reps I spoke with in the repair division were incredibly rude. I am not an engineer but even I know that this is a design flaw. The lcd screen is just too heavy for the hinge system to survive over a very long period of time with even minimal use. I couldn't be any more disappointed in a company. They will not take responsbility for their own faulty product. In my case, to make an even bad situation worse, they caused further damage and won't even make any effort to correct the problem. I will never, ever buy another product from HP.
Good value for money Oct 18, 2009 I've bought this refurbished laptop and until now i haven't had a single problem with it, everything works. The only thing i changed was the os, i downgraded it to XP. It was a necessity.

Do not buy an HP laptop Oct 16, 2009 I bought 2 HP laptops and have had nothing but trouble. 1 laptop had to go back to the shop three times: once because the bracket connecting the screen to the keyboard broke, once because the hard drive was defective and once because the sound card was defective. One time I sent it to HP and they returned my computer still broken. My other laptop had to be returned to the factory because the hard drive was defective. I have had to do so many system restores (and in fact did one last night) and lost programs that I had to buy (Word Perfect). Even though it was supposed to have been repaired, my itunes library still doesn't play right. The music will skip. This computer is a huge disappointment. I don't even use the computer anymore because it is so annoying. Vista makes it even worse (although I think hp finally realized this.)

On 1/01/09 I called customer service (that is what they call it). I told the tech my internal lightscribe drive would not burn label's. I am not a not a novice and I went through all the steps - uninstalling the drive and reinstalling the drive, etc. I told the the tech that my external lightscribe drive was working fine so it had to be the drive. He had me duplicate all the steps I Had already done and after 1:05 he said he would send me a new drive it was under warranty got my credit card info and he put me on hold. After 10 minutes (1:15 total time) I hung up.
I called back after I cooled down and got a tech who saw what was done, bur insisted to let him take over my PC. He assured me it take only 20 minutes and I agreed. An hour and 35 minutes later I told him just take of ordering the drive (it seems the first tech did not it. Hr agreed and then after being on hold for 5 minutes he told me the system was down and I would have to call back on 11/2/09.
Both techs had bad attitudes and treated me like a dummy. I wasted two hours and 40 minutes of being insulted and talked down to!
Price can not overcome lack of service
